Licences & Memberships

What Memberships & Licences do I need to take part in races?

To take part in Circuit Races registered with British Cycling, you will need a British Cycling membership and also a racing licence. These can be purchased together and bring with them a range of benefits, including some really useful insurance and legal advice cover. These are your options:

Youth ABCDE – you need to buy a Silver or Gold “Race” membership, which comes with a free licence for all Youths. Gold membership has slightly better benefits than Silver, but for racing purposes the latter is fine.

Junior – you need to buy a Silver or Gold “Race” membership, plus a full racing licence

Adult – you need to buy a Silver or Gold “Race” membership, plus a full racing licence

How To Buy Memberships & Licences – visit the British Cycling website and begin by buying a “Race” membership, you will then be offered licence options during the process. Do not buy a Bronze membership as this does not include a racing licence. Do not buy “Ride” or “Fan” memberships, as they are not intended for riders who race. Buy British Cycling Membership & Licence
